Inventors Receive Awards at WorldÕs Largest Invention Show

 

PITTSBURGHÉINPEX¨, The Invention Show, announced several award winners at the closing awards dinner for the 2003 trade show. All of the inventions were exhibited May 14-17, at the Greater Pittsburgh ExpoMart. 

            The inventions recognized run the gamut from concept to finished product, from high-tech to Ôwhy didnÕt I think of thatÕ items. Awards were presented in categories ranging from advertising to transportation as well as special awards from corporations and individuals. An international jury judges the inventions. The following individuals won these special awards:

¬     Innovators Cup presented to Craig Dickson (Putney, Australia) for ÒThe SnailÓ

¬     Award of Excellence presented to Darren A. Gunasekera (Shah Alam, Malaysia) for Òe-Cool,Ó ÒVibratileÓ and ÒVirtual SpeakerÓ

¬     Woman Inventor of the Year presented to Gwendolyn Rolle (Freeport, Bahamas) for ÒSlip Ons CollectionsÓ

¬     Fox 40 Entrepreneurial Award presented by Ron Foxcroft, inventor of the Fox 40 whistle, to Robert J. Hamley (Hunter, NY) for ÒForever Flowers a Floral Preservative KitÓ

¬     Skyline Most Innovative Display Award presented by Skyline Display of Pittsburgh to Kendall and Alexia Rycroft, (Navarre, Fla.) for ÒYummie LiteÓ

¬     Grand Prix Second Runner-up, a $1,000 cash prize, was awarded to Otto F. Morger, Ernst D. Froehlich and Jochen R. Weber of the Styfologie-Center GmbH (Rapperswil, Switzerland) for ÒStyfologie Body Alignment Measuring System 400Ó

¬     Grand Prix First Runner-up, a $2,000 cash prize, was awarded to Robert J. Hamley (Hunter, NY) for ÒForever Flowers a Floral Preservative KitÓ

¬     And the Grand Prix Award, a $5,000 cash prize, was awarded to Mark Sheahan (London, England) for ÒSimply Squeeze to OpenÓ
